These oven-baked chicken fingers are golden, crunchy, and full of flavor—perfect for both kids and adults. Paired with a zesty tartar sauce, they make a satisfying snack, appetizer, or main dish.
Ingredients
For the Chicken Tenders:
- 1 kg chicken breast, sliced into strips
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1–2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 chicken broth cube, crushed
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3–4 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp salt
For the Tartar Sauce:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp parsley
- 2 tbsp pickle relish
- Pinch of salt
- Ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the milk, cornstarch, flour, 1 tsp salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and crushed chicken broth cube.
- Beat the egg in a separate bowl.
- In a third bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with dried parsley and 1/2 tsp salt.
- Dip each chicken strip into the milk mixture, then the egg, and finally coat well with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Arrange the coated chicken on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden and fully cooked.
- While baking, prepare the tartar sauce by combining mayonnaise, lemon juice, sugar, parsley, pickle relish, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Serve chicken fingers hot with tartar sauce and optional tomato sauce on the side.
