Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp mustard powder
  • Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, pickles, extra cheese

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven

  • Set oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Cook the Beef Mixture

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and onion is soft.
  • Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat.

3. Mix the Batter

  • In a bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, flour, baking powder, paprika, and mustard powder until smooth and lump-free.

4. Assemble the Pie

  • Grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  • Spread the beef mixture evenly across the bottom.
  • Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top of the beef.
  • Pour the batter over everything, spreading it out evenly.

5. Bake

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

6. Serve

  • Let cool slightly before slicing.
  • Top with diced tomatoes, pickles, and extra cheese if desired.
